This page serves as the application for internships across various JHU NLP projects. Applications will remain open on a rolling basis and new projects will be added when they arise.
Mahsa Yarmohammadi, Kenton Murray, and Benjamin Van Durme are looking for passionate students to join our 2021 Summer Internship program. The interns will collaborate and be supported by senior researchers and graduate students at blab.
In blab, we have created cross-lingual datasets using annotation projection to transfer linguistic annotations in a source language to a target language with no labeled data. We effectively created and used such datasets in zero-shot or few-shot learning scenarios for a few NLP tasks, including NER and Information Extraction. As a summer project, we plan to extend this work to a variety of NLP tasks and datasets including relation, entity, and event extraction, etc., and we plan to release our datasets and the tools to the public. The project involves research and development in NLP techniques such as Machine Translation, Word Alignment, and Cross-Lingual Word Representations in Deep Learning models. Master's students who are interested in any of these or related fields and have good programming skills are especially encouraged to apply.
